Miss Elizabeth’s career in professional wrestling, as well as her connection to Randy Savage started innocently. Liz graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in communications and was working as a camera operator at a television station that was run by her father. The station regularly broadcast International Championship Wrestling shows and Elizabeth became a fan. The ICW federation was run by Angelo Poffo, and Elizabeth began dating Angelo’s son and top talent, Randy Poffo, who competed as Randy Savage. Through her association with Savage, Liz was hired as an announcer for ICW television and, on December 30, 1984, Elizabeth married Randy Poffo.

In June of 1985, Savage signed with the World Wrestling Federation and the company started an angle where the managers in the WWF would engage in a bidding war for this new top talent. Each week, another manager would make a pitch to represent Savage, but when the time came to announce his choice, Savage shocked the wrestling world by introducing Miss Elizabeth as his new manager. To further the story line, the other managers, as well as the announcers could not understand what Elizabeth, who was not a former wrestler as they were, could offer Savage as his manager. They would all soon find out that with her by his side, Savage would rise quickly up the ranks of the WWF.

Elizabeth would stay away from professional wrestling for nearly four years until, in January of 1996, she would return to the side of Randy Savage, who was now wrestling for WCW. Savage was feuding with the Four Horsemen and particularly old nemesis Ric Flair. During the feud, Elizabeth would turn on Savage and would align with Flair, while Flair would claim that Elizabeth was funding Horsemen operations with money she got from her divorce settlement with Savage. With the inception of the new World Order in June of 1996, Savage and the Horsemen would end up on the same side briefly, and Elizabeth would fade from sight.

In late 1996, Liz would be forced to join the NWO along with many other WCW wrestlers, but she would be treated as a second-class talent. Her stock would rise when Savage joined the group, as she became an important part of the story lines again. Savage and Elizabeth would feud with Dallas Page and his wife Kimberly, while outside the ring, Liz would become involved in a courtship with attorney from Florida, but their marriage would only last a few months.

When the NWO split into two groups, Savage would join the face Wolfpac faction while Liz would remain with the NWO Hollywood group and would be seen accompanying Eric Bischoff on television. In early 1999, Bischoff would pull himself from TV, and Elizabeth would be transitioned into a story line where she began accusing Bill Goldberg of stalking her. This would turn out to be a ploy to prevent Goldberg from making his scheduled title match against Kevin Nash. Hogan would take Goldberg’s title match and would defeat Nash for the tile with the “Finger Poke of Doom”, where Hogan would touch Nash, causing Nash to fall to the mat and allowing Hogn to pin Nash and win the title. She would soon begin appearing at the side of Lex Luger and Kevin Nash. However, when Luger injured his bicep in February of 1999, Elizabeth would disappear again.
